British Army 16th (Bedfordshire) Regiment of Foot Badge VR

unusual item. what appears to be an original pre 1881 cap badge of this former regiment. aopprox 2.5" diameter. gilding still on the reverse. nice patina to the front. It seems however to have never had any fittings on the reverse. no idea what its been used for.
