British Metropolitan Special Constabulary Police Cap Badge

an interesting well used type of badge sometimes used differently from what i gather. maker marked on the reverse by W O Lewis Birmingham. approx 1.85" by 1.4". Not sure if the silvery finnish was a post WW1 era addition. with lug type fittings.
